About the material

My preferred mediums are polymer clay, since 1992 and Precious Metal Clay, since 2000.

Polymer clay is the generic name for a formula consisting of polyvinyl chloride resin, plasticizer and occasionally filler. Brilliant pigments have been added to provide a wide spectrum of colors. The more I worked with the material, the more I fantasized about incorporating metal into my work. Prefabricated metal works were lacking in comparison to what my imagination had created.

Alas, I discovered Precious Metal Clay. Precious Metal Clay is a unique, amazing and relatively new product. It is very fine particles of silver or gold suspended in an organic binder. It has the consistency of potter’s clay but after firing in a kiln the object is pure precious metal.

Since I began working with Precious Metal Clay I have incorporated it into my polymer clay. I have enjoyed working with the material so much that I find myself making many pieces exclusively of the Precious Metal Clay.
